The competition is for a short story of less than 2,000 words on any subject (apart from children's stories). Prizes will be awarded as follows:
A further seven runners-up will receive a copy of Creative Writing or any other Way Ahead software of their choice. All ten winning stories will be included in an annual electronic anthology to be published simultaneously on floppy disk and on the Internet. This is a real chance to make a name for yourself and have your work read by a potential audience of 40 million plus on the information superhighway!
1. The competition is for an original short story of under 2,000 words on any subject.
2. Entries should be typed, double-spaced, and on one side of the paper only.
3. All types of short story are welcome, apart from stories for children. Copyright in all stories will remain with the authors, but Way Ahead reserves the right to publish the winning stories in an electronic anthology without further payment to contributors.
4. Stories should not have been published professionally, but stories which have appeared only in not-for-profit magazines and anthologies are acceptable.
5. Manuscripts cannot be returned, but a copy of the results and judges' report will be sent to all who enclose a 9" x 4" SAE (or IRC from overseas) with their entries.
6. The entry fee is £3 per story. Competitors may submit as many stories as they wish so long as each is accompanied by the appropriate fee. Cheques should be made payable to Way Ahead.
7. Competitors are asked NOT to put their name on their manuscripts, but to complete the attached entry form. Entry forms may be photocopied if required.
8. The closing date is 30 September each year.
9. The judges' decision will be final and there can be no correspondence concerning the result.
10. Failure to observe any of the above rules may result in disqualification.
